People helping horses ~ Horses helping people

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Horses can be used to address behavioral problems or assist in therapy sessions where traditional methods may not be as effective. Programs have been developed in which the horse is used as a catalyst to stimulate human emotions so that therapists can then make the metaphorical leap from  relationships with horses to relationships with people (at home, work, school, etc.) Horses can also be used in working with troubled teens and family counseling. Other types of therapy, such as physical therapy, can also be improved by working with horses. Visit the following sites for more information on EAP and/or equine programs for the physically or mentally handicapped.
